About Museum of East Texas

The Museum of East Texas enriches and educates communities through the celebration and exploration of art. Visitors tour galleries displaying paintings and sculptures by East Texas artists as well as American, Latin American and European masters. Current and rotating exhibitions include Bill Walterman's "Stubbs Feed Store: Crossroads of a Community," the Lufkin Art Guild's landscape paintings, Winter Rusiloski's "Traversing Lines: a Narrative on the American Landscape," and "The New American West by Brush and by Bronze." The museum offers Young Artist Daytime classes and Young Artists programs for middle and high school students. Educators can arrange free field trips for teachers, homeschool groups, specialty groups, daycare and adult care facilities. The museum occupies a historic 1906 church building originally founded in 1976. Located at 503 N 2nd Street in Lufkin, the museum maintains a gift shop and welcomes visitors to sketch and photograph in the galleries.
