Mound House, Fort Myers Beach

About Mound House

Mound House operates kayak tours through mangrove tunnels and tidal creeks in Estero Bay, where guides point out archaeological sites of the Calusa people and wildlife including herons, roseate spoonbills, dolphins, and manatees. The museum holds six exhibits spanning nearly 2,000 years of cultural and environmental history, with hands-on replica artifacts and atlatl throwing available during guided tours. The nearly 3-acre property is an active archaeological site featuring a shell mound built by the Calusa, with grounds open daily from 7 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. and the museum open Wednesday through Saturday. Located in Fort Myers Beach, Florida, Mound House offers free admission to SNAP recipients and Museums for All members for up to four people per card, to veterans and active duty military, and to teachers. Fort Myers Beach residents receive half-off admission.
