About Monument Valley Visitor Center

Monument Valley Visitor Center overlooks sandstone formations that tower between 400 and 1,000 feet, their shapes shifted by light and shadow across the desert floor. Visitors drive the 17-mile loop road through the valley, staying on designated routes across terrain that includes deep sand dunes. The Visitor Center itself contains a museum and a viewpoint patio where the landscape spreads across the horizon. A hiking option includes the Wildcat Trail, a 1.5-mile route that requires signing in and out at the Visitor Center. Along the scenic drive, Navajo artisans sell hand-crafted jewelry and other items directly to travelers. The site sits at 5,564 feet elevation in Navajo County. Admission charges apply, and tickets are available online through navajonationparks.org. The valley's Navajo name is Tse'Bii'Ndzisgaii.
