About Monterey Bay Aquarium

The Monterey Bay Aquarium is a nonprofit facility where visitors explore multiple themed exhibits showcasing ocean life and habitats. The Sea Otters exhibit displays playful southern sea otters romping and wrestling, visible from both surface-level and underwater viewing windows on the first and second floors. The Open Sea exhibit features a 90-foot window where tuna dart, sardines school, and sea turtles drift past. Other exhibits include the Kelp Forest, where divers plunge with food during feedings among leopard sharks and wolf-eels; the Giant Pacific Octopus, which solves mazes and jets across its tank; Rocky Shore; Sandy Shore and Aviary; Life on the Bay; Monterey Bay Habitats; and Into the Deep, exploring the ocean abyss. The aquarium offers programs including Underwater Explorers for ages 8–13, featuring surface scuba diving in the Great Tide Pool, and auditorium presentations on bioluminescence. Field trips are available for student groups. The facility is located in Monterey, California.
