Lynnwood Park Zoo in Jacksonville is a veteran-owned facility where visitors walk outdoor paths through over 50 animal habitats to observe diverse species. Mammals on display include silver foxes, fennec foxes, bobcats, serval cats, llamas, wallabies, dingoes, and primates such as grivet monkeys and snow macaques. The zoo houses numerous bird species including barred owls, screech owls, emus, rheas, peacocks, pheasants, and kookaburras. Reptile exhibits feature American alligators, corn snakes, king snakes, eastern box turtles, and blue-tongued skinks, though these are moved indoors during colder months. Each animal has a background story, with many arriving from private surrenders, rescue situations, or other facilities. The zoo opens Friday through Monday from mid-morning to early evening, with last admission in the afternoon. Visitors should bring umbrellas, insect spray, water, and sunscreen, as the facility is entirely outdoors with limited shade and no concessions. Service animals are welcome; pet animals are not.
