About Kennedy Gold Mine

The Historic Kennedy Gold Mine in Jackson, California offers 90-minute guided surface tours exploring one of the world's deepest mines. Visitors walk through the Change House Museum and Gift Shop, view 1914 footage of miners at work, and explore a new Mine Tunnel exhibit. The tour includes the Steam Boiler Building, Head Frame and Shaft area, Stamp Mill Overlook, and Underground Foreman's Office. Inside the 1907 Mine Office Museum, guests see the Paymaster's office and a large walk-in safe that once held gold bars and records. Additional stops feature the Gold Retort Furnace, Assay Rooms, and Guest Bedrooms. Visitors also witness demonstrations of the stamp and gold recovery mill and observe the towering steel head frame. The site presents the hardships of mining life through exhibits, historic structures, and artifacts. Guided tours operate at multiple times throughout the week, with private group tours available by appointment.
