About Horizon Climbing

Horizon Climbing is a bouldering gym in Champaign where visitors climb colorful holds on professionally built walls without ropes. The main bouldering area features 14.5-foot-tall walls with more than 3,000 square feet of climbing surface, arranged as boulder problems graded on the v-scale from easier to harder routes. Climbers navigate holds, volumes (geometric teal shapes that act as wall extensions), and aretes while working toward sending each problem. The gym serves all ages and ability levels with a toddler climbing room for young children and youth programming including private instruction, summer camps, and after-school clubs. Adults access private instruction, group classes, and specialized training equipment like hangboards and campus boards for those aged thirteen and up. Additional amenities include a fully equipped fitness area with cardio machines and weights, locker rooms with showers, study and co-working spaces with complimentary coffee, tea, and WiFi, and free yoga classes. First-time visitors receive an in-person orientation from staff, with climbing shoes included on initial visits.
