About Green Gables
Green Gables is a living history museum in Melbourne where visitors tour a 130-year-old historic building and explore interactive exhibits on the grounds. Guests experience early Melbourne hospitality while enjoying the beautiful grounds overlooking the Indian River and an adjacent nature preserve. The museum hosts seasonal events including the Annual Harvest Festival featuring local artists, craftspeople, live music, and kids activities, plus a Gemstone Dig sponsored by Sullivan's Jewelers. A pirate-themed Family Trick or Treat Night offers fortune telling, games, and candy. Saturday open houses welcome visitors to experience the museum's architecture and outdoor spaces, with children 12 and under admitted free when accompanied by a paying adult. The grounds provide insight into the region's historical development and early settlement patterns.
