About Gallant Farm

Gallant Farm in Delaware is a Depression-era farm where visitors experience agricultural life from an earlier century. The 19-acre site features a period farmhouse, a barn constructed with historic 1890s timbers, a granary, machine shed, barnyard, demonstration crop fields, vegetable garden, orchard, and pond. Costumed interpreters perform daily farm tasks including plowing fields, tending gardens, and cooking on a wood-burning stove. Visitors participate in hands-on programs such as preserving garden produce, making sausage, preparing fields for planting, and using the wood stove to prepare soups and pies. Self-guided tours allow exploration at your own pace, with staff and volunteers available to answer questions. The farm hosts annual special events including an Antique Tractor Show, Music under the Paper Moon, and Winter Evening on the Farm. School and community groups can arrange educational programs and field trips. The farmhouse is handicapped accessible, and the site offers hiking, cross-country skiing, and geocaching in addition to farm activities.
