Fort George Island Cultural State Park occupies a lush island with 5,000 years of human history, from Native American settlements through a 1736 colonial fort to a 1920s resort era. Visitors come for boating, fishing, off-road bicycling and hiking. The centerpiece is the restored Ribault Club, a 1920s clubhouse now serving as a visitor center and event space. Behind the clubhouse, small boats, canoes and kayaks launch onto tidal waters for exploration. The 4-mile Fairway Loop trail follows the retired golf course from the island's 1920s heyday, allowing hikers to walk through that historical period. The park remains open daily from morning to sunset, with the Ribault Club visitor center open Wednesday through Sunday. Located on Fort George Road in Jacksonville, the park welcomes outdoor enthusiasts and history buffs seeking an island escape.
