About Earl D. Schoeffner Farm Museum

The Earl D. Schoeffner Farm Museum in Momence celebrates more than 150 years of local agricultural history through vintage equipment, period rooms, and detailed exhibits. Visitors explore a recreated 1940s farmhouse with authentic living room, kitchen, dining room, and bedroom furnishings. A 1951 Massey-Harris Model 44 tractor highlights the equipment collection, alongside displays of traditional farm tools spanning from primitive to mid-20th-century designs. The museum also features Earl's childhood toy tractor collection, school projects, and awards. Additional attractions include a 19th-century Albany sleigh with original upholstery and gold pinstriping, a John Deere farm wagon, and a large diorama crafted by Schoeffner and Bill Munyon. The "First Farmers of Momence, The Potawatomi" exhibit displays authentic artifacts including arrowheads, axes, and pottery. The complex also houses the William and Phyllis Munyon Memorial Train Depot with train memorabilia and miniature train displays, plus the Mt. Airy Little Red Schoolhouse, built in 1853 and furnished with original desks and artifacts. General admission is free.
