About Destin History & Fishing Museum

The Destin History & Fishing Museum preserves the village's heritage through interactive exhibits and artifacts spanning from the 1830s pioneers to modern fishing industry developments. Visitors explore the Mike Long Memorial Fish Wall, an interactive display featuring over 100 fish mounts, and experience a 3-D recreation of an underwater reef complete with sharks and fish. The museum also highlights the Destin Fishing Rodeo, one of the longest-running fishing tournaments in the United States, and documents the evolution from seine boats to contemporary vessels in Destin Harbor. The nonprofit institution houses books, manuscripts, photographs, and historical artifacts in both permanent and temporary exhibitions. Throughout the year, the museum sponsors programs and events including a gumbo contest, literary garden party, haunted walking tour, and lighted boat parade. Located in Destin, Florida, the museum charges admission and welcomes visitors interested in the city's fishing and tourism history.
