About Das Haus Museum

Das Haus Museum preserves the history of Prussian Lutheran settlers who arrived in the Niagara Frontier in 1843. Visitors tour one of the original cabins that sheltered families during their first winter, part of a museum complex that includes EinHaus and Der Stall. The museum displays artifacts and photographs documenting the lives of these early settlers, their families, and descendants who still live in the area. The Historical Society offers genealogy assistance to members researching Prussian and German migration to Western New York. Throughout the year, the society hosts events including presentations on local history, Plattdeutsch luncheons where Low German dialect is spoken and translated, lessons on traditional baking like Springerle cookies, and talks about family trees. An annual dinner features a guest speaker and period meals based on recipes from the 1500s. Das Haus Museum is located in Niagara Falls, New York.
