About Crane Point Hammock
Crane Point Hammock in Marathon is a nature center and historic site combining museum exhibits, outdoor trails, and wildlife encounters. Visitors walk hammock trails and boardwalks through native forest canopy, explore four butterfly gardens, and tour the 1904 Adderley House. The museum displays artifacts and maritime history, including pirate remnants and a simulated coral cave. A 600-year-old dugout canoe occupies the lagoon area, where visitors can also see a Mola Mola specimen and play on a children's pirate ship while watching tropical fish. The property features a fish pedicure station where gambusia fish nibble feet in a tidal pool. Birdwatching is popular throughout the hammock, with binoculars available for loan. Leashed pets are welcome. A trip suits anyone seeking to reconnect with nature through active exploration, whether birdwatching, kayaking, swimming, or simply walking the grounds.
