About Bert Andries Park

Comanche Trail Park is a 400-acre recreation area centered on the natural spring that gave Big Spring its name. Visitors swim at the Russ McEwen Family Aquatic Center, fish or picnic at Comanche Trail Lake, play golf on the 18-hole course, or use the tennis courts and baseball fields. The park includes playgrounds, hiking and biking trails, and nature trails. A 6,900-seat limestone amphitheater hosts events throughout the year. The Dora Roberts Community Center, situated on the lake's bank, accommodates weddings, conferences, dances and receptions. During the Christmas season, the annual Festival of Lights transforms the park with over one million lights and large poinsettias displayed across the grounds. Families can rent pavilions for gatherings and parties, available from early morning through evening. The park sits on the south end of Big Spring and is accessible from U.S. 87 and F.M. 700.
