The Lubbock Memorial Arboretum is a 93-acre landscape in K.N. Clapp Park where visitors walk trails through diverse plantings of trees, shrubs, vines and flowers. The main accessible trail stretches 1.18 miles through the grounds. Specific garden areas feature red oaks, Bradford pears, mulberries, atlas cedars, magnolias and desert willows. Visitors observe birds, butterflies and various animals that inhabit the arboretum's sanctuary. The grounds include St. Paul of the Plains Chapel and other memorials. The Interpretive Center, housed in a red brick building, contains the arboretum office, a boardroom, meeting room and kitchen, with wheelchair access via a raised cedar deck. The arboretum offers volunteer opportunities and Second Saturday educational programs and classes. General admission is free. Restroom facilities are available at the Hodges Community Center and Garden and Arts Center.
