Soddy Mountain Hawk Watch is a lookout site on state-owned land in Soddy-Daisy where visitors observe raptors migrating through the Tennessee River Valley. The watch site sits atop Walden's Ridge at the eastern terminus of Jones Gap Road, overlooking Highway 111 and the valley below. Visitors bring binoculars and field guides to spot red-tailed hawks and other species passing through the area. The lookout proper occupies level ground, though reaching it requires climbing a steep bank about eight feet high from the parking area below. No shelter, restrooms, or food facilities are available on-site, so visitors should bring folding lawn chairs, sunscreen, hats, drinking water, and umbrellas or spotting scopes. Caution is necessary near the 75-foot bluff that borders the watch area, especially when children are present, as no fence prevents falls. This activity suits birders and nature enthusiasts interested in hawk migration observation.
