Sampson County History Museum in Clinton preserves local heritage across eleven separate buildings on a two-acre village-style campus. Visitors explore thousands of artifacts and antiques displayed throughout the grounds, including the main 1903 two-story house, the Bunting Cabin built around 1750, a smokehouse, and a seventy-year-old outhouse. The museum features an agriculture exhibit with period wagons, Wooten's Country Store, and Fussell's Restaurant sign, alongside early 1900s restored gas pumps and authentic millstones from when corn was ground locally into meal. Church groups, school classes, and families tour the buildings to discover antiques reflecting Sampson County heritage and the surrounding region's past. Each building holds distinct artifacts offering what the museum calls a "key to the past." Groups of six or more should call ahead to arrange their visit. The museum operates Thursday through Saturday during published hours.
