About Sacramento Southern Railroad

Sacramento Southern Railroad operates vintage excursion trains from Old Sacramento Waterfront along the Sacramento River. Visitors board historic railroad cars for a 45-minute, 6-mile round trip that recreates travel from over 100 years ago. The fleet includes the handsome 1920s lounge car El Dorado, which features large windows and comfortable seating divided into two sections. Steam locomotive Granite Rock 10, rebuilt after a six-year restoration project, operates select dates and pulls one of three elegant first-class cars. First-class passengers enjoy air-conditioned comfort and receive refreshments during their 50-minute scenic ride. Standard coach seating is also available. Throughout the journey, riders learn about California railroading history and the American West. The Central Pacific Passenger Station at Front and J Streets in Old Sacramento serves as the departure point. Passengers must be able to climb narrow stairs to board the historic coaches.
