About Reelfoot Lake State Park

Reelfoot Lake State Park encompasses 280 acres of natural landscape in Tiptonville, created by the New Madrid earthquakes of 1811 and 1812. This unique lake is Tennessee's only large naturally occurring body of water of its kind. Visitors come to fish, boat, and observe wildlife in their natural habitat. The park provides boat access to explore the water and shoreline. Bird watching is a primary activity, as the lake attracts numerous species throughout the year. The park features day use areas where families can spend time outdoors, though some areas are currently undergoing renovations. Hiking and nature observation opportunities allow guests to experience the landscape formed by these historic geological events. The park suits anyone interested in natural history, water recreation, or wildlife viewing.
