Old McFaye's Farm is a small farm in Castle Hayne where visitors interact directly with farm animals and participate in guided activities. The farm operates for birthday parties, field trips, and public open days featuring hands-on experiences with chickens, goats, sheep, ponies, and a donkey. During visits, guests enjoy pony rides and hayrides, feed animals with buckets of feed, groom the ponies and mini horse, and brush the donkey. Birthday party packages include two hours of these activities plus the option to bring or cater food. Field trip groups rotate through activity stations designed for learning and exploration. On public open days, the farm offers seasonal events such as Halloween costume parties and S'mores with Santa, each including hayrides and themed activities. During school breaks, day camps provide hands-on animal care instruction, such as tacking up ponies, bathing the donkey, or planting vegetables in the garden. Owners Faye and Richard Hodges have operated the farm for over fifteen years, focusing on teaching children about animals and nature.
