The Jefferson County Ohio Historical Association occupies the Emma Carter Sharpe Zeis mansion, a three-story home completed in 1919 on Franklin Avenue in Steubenville. Visitors explore over a hundred artifacts including antique furniture, Steubenville Pottery, Civil War records and memorabilia, a pioneer kitchen, photographs, and school yearbooks and mementos. The museum contains dedicated topic rooms: the Dean Martin Room, Military History Room, and Presidents Room. A full library provides access to genealogical material for research. The museum welcomes groups of all ages, and docents provide tours of the mansion and assist with historical research. Students can explore local history and meet educational requirements through guided visits. General admission is free. The facility features rear parking lot access with a ramp to the main floor, though stairs serve the basement and upper floors. Volunteers help organize visits and can arrange tours outside standard hours.
