About Erie Mansion

Erie Mansion in Clyde, New York is a 12,000 square foot Classical Revival mansion built in 1858 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Visitors explore 40 rooms connected by 91 doors, including three doors that lead nowhere, while taking guided tours led by innkeeper Mark Wright. The mansion features 12 fireplaces with imported marble and mahogany mantles, 23 chandeliers, stained glass windows, parquet floors, and gold leaf wall coverings that reflect 19th-century craftsmanship. Guests can stay overnight in one of three suites—the Honeymoon Suite, the Eerie Suite, or the Red Suite—each with its own history. The mansion also hosts private events throughout its rooms. Named for its proximity to the Erie Canal, the property has accumulated 165 years of documented history and accounts of unexplained phenomena. The experience combines Victorian architecture with stories of the mansion's past.
