About ECO Center

The Rome-Floyd E.C.O. Center is a natural resource education facility where visitors explore live wildlife exhibits through self-guided tours. The center houses more than 25 exhibits featuring reptiles, amphibians, and fish native to northwest Georgia, including snakes, turtles, lizards, frogs, salamanders, and fish from the Etowah, Coosa, and Oostanaula rivers. Exhibits are professionally designed and maintained, allowing visitors to identify and learn about animals they may encounter in local backyards, trails, forests, and rivers. In addition to live animals, the facility displays colorful infographics, professional mounts, and interactive components that teach about Georgia's biodiversity and native wildlife. Walk-in visitors can explore the facility at no charge. The center also hosts educational field trips and programs for school groups, as well as special events throughout the year. The facility is located in Rome, Georgia, and operates as a joint department of the City of Rome and Floyd County governments.
