About East Carolina Village and Farm Museum

East Carolina Village and Farm Museum preserves rural life in Eastern North Carolina from the 1840s through 1940s across five acres in Greenville. Visitors explore authentic relocated buildings including the Eagles School, a one-room schoolhouse from 1903; the Satterthwaite Store from Pactolus, featuring early telephone and gas pump history; and the Thomas Adrian Savage House, a Greek Revival home from the 1850s. The site also contains a log cabin, tobacco curing barn, corn crib, smokehouse, and chapel. Hands-on activities let visitors measure dried beans on antique scales, select penny candy from glass canisters, and operate a butter churn. Costumed docents lead tours personalized with stories about former residents and their trades. The museum hosts self-guided tours and living history demonstrations during Saturday vendor markets. School groups and organizations can arrange special tours with activities like picnicking on the grounds.
