About Consolidated Gold Mine
Consolidated Gold Mine is North Georgia's only underground gold mine tour, where visitors descend 20 stories into a real working mine for a 40-minute guided experience. The tour includes gold panning instruction led by award-winning panners and a free gold sample to test panning skills. Beyond the underground tour, the site offers gem mining using water-powered flumes to uncover emeralds, rubies, sapphires, topaz, amethyst, quartz, moonstone and garnets from shareable buckets designed for beginners and experienced miners alike. An on-site lapidary studio cuts raw gems into finished jewelry. Gold panning is also available as a separate activity with ore and instruction provided. The mine suits families with children ages 3 and up, as well as adult visitors seeking hands-on mineral exploration. Located in Dahlonega, Georgia, Consolidated Gold Mine operates daily and charges admission for its various activities.
