Climbnasium in Mechanicsburg is an indoor climbing gym where visitors choose between two climbing styles. Bouldering involves climbing shorter walls up to 14 feet high with padded flooring below, requiring no rope skills or instruction. Top rope climbing uses ropes attached at the wall's top, with climbers reaching heights up to 40 feet while a belayer manages the rope from below. New top rope climbers must complete a belay instruction class, offered at multiple times throughout the week, to learn proper safety techniques. The facility offers shoe and harness rentals for those without their own equipment. Climbnasium also runs specialized programs including Boulder 101, rappelling classes, Little Rockers for younger climbers, and a summer camp. A climbing team and club are available for more serious participants. The gym hosts monthly yoga sessions and regular college nights. Visitors of any age are welcome, though the gym recommends children be at least eight years old. All participants must complete a waiver before their first visit.
