Catalina Express operates a fleet of eight high-speed ferries that transport passengers from Dana Point to Catalina Island, roughly 22 miles offshore. The journey takes approximately one hour. Departing from the Dana Point port, visitors board modern vessels including catamarans and the Catalina Jet, which carries up to 450 passengers and features airline-style cabin seating, panoramic viewing windows, and both inside and outside upper deck seating. Each boat includes a full bar with refreshments and snacks. For enhanced comfort, passengers may upgrade to the Commodore Lounge or Captain's Lounge, which offer complimentary beverages, priority boarding, and plush seating. The service operates up to 30 daily round-trips to either Avalon, a picturesque town offering land and sea activities, or Two Harbors, a rustic village with beaches and campgrounds. Visitors can make day trips or stay overnight on the island.
