About Bonelli House

The Bonelli House in Kingman preserves a historic residence built in 1915 after the original home burned. Visitors tour the stone house to see surviving family possessions displayed throughout its rooms and learn about the Bonelli family's life in early Arizona. The two-story structure showcases Anglo-territorial architecture with thick volcanic-stone exterior walls and fire-resistant plaster interiors. Each room on both levels features exit doors opening to the veranda. A cupola atop the roof served as a ventilation system and lookout point. The home demonstrates five passive cooling methods, including leafy vines growing on the three-sided veranda to shade the stone walls and an upstairs bedroom opening that releases hot air from the cupola. Guided tours are available, and the house is located at the corner of 5th and Spring Streets as part of the City Complex. The museum charges admission, with rates published online.
