About Tower Park

Tower Park in Peoria Heights features a 200-foot observation tower built atop a functional 500,000-gallon water tank. An enclosed glass elevator carries visitors 200 feet above the village to three separate observation decks offering panoramic views of the Illinois River Valley and surrounding landscape. Three telescopes stationed on the decks enable closer inspection of distant features. The tower is the only structure of its kind in the United States. The park also contains a large water fountain, a 44-foot pavilion for community events, children's playground equipment, picnic tables, and a bronze Abraham Lincoln monument designed by Gutzon Borglum, identical to sculptures at Lincoln's Tomb in Springfield and in the U.S. Capitol Rotunda. The observation tower operates on a seasonal schedule with hours published on the village website. Admission charges apply, with family season passes available for unlimited visits.
