About The Ted Lewis Museum
The Ted Lewis Museum in Circleville preserves the legacy of Theodore Leopold Friedman, one of America's greatest entertainers. Visitors journey through exhibits documenting his rise from childhood performances with the Circleville Cadet Band through his five-decade career spanning vaudeville, film, and television. The museum displays his trademark battered top hat, won in a dice game, and his clarinet. Exhibits explore how he earned the title "The King of Jazz" and became known for his signature routine "Me and My Shadow." Visitors listen to recordings of songs he made famous, including "When My Baby Smiles At Me," "Tiger Rag," and "On the Sunny Side of the Street." Historic film and television appearances document his show business career. Group tours are available by appointment.
