Heritage Square Splash Pad is a water play area on the Wilkes Heritage Museum front lawn in Wilkesboro. Visitors activate the splash pad by stepping on a circular pad near the benches, triggering a five-minute operation cycle. The pad features 29 jets in varying heights and shapes, with colorful lighting throughout. The tile work is arranged in a star quilt pattern to reflect the region's artisan heritage. Jets along the outer edges are designed at appropriate levels for young children. The splash pad sits within Heritage Square, which evokes the stately lawn of the historic courthouse and includes gathering spaces for all ages. The square features a Veterans Monument, military service bricks, and a historic cannon. Restroom facilities are available at the adjacent Community Commons for splash pad visitors.
