The Lincoln Douglas Debate Museum occupies the site of the 1858 Charleston debate between Abraham Lincoln and Stephen A. Douglas. Visitors take self-guided tours that retrace the seven senatorial debates of 1858, encountering exhibits and interactive displays throughout the museum. The collection includes film, audio selections, artifacts, and photographs that chronicle the debates and their historical significance. A children's hands-on area engages younger visitors with interactive elements. The museum features a theater for viewing presentations and displays Lincoln Douglas sculptures. Group tours are available by appointment. The facility operates daily from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and visitors enter at the east end of the Coles County Fairgrounds in Charleston, Illinois. Donations are accepted to support the museum's operations.
