About Buffalo State University Ice Arena
Buffalo State University Ice Arena, opened in 1991, is a public ice skating facility in Buffalo, New York. Visitors can participate in open skating or skate-n-shoot, a program where skaters take shots on goal while wearing required safety equipment including skates, hockey gloves, and a helmet. The arena features a 200-foot by 85-foot ice surface with seating for 1,800 spectators. The facility includes seven locker rooms, a concession area, vending machines, and an on-site skate shop offering sharpening services and equipment rentals. The Ice Arena serves as the home rink for Buffalo State's men's and women's varsity hockey programs and hosts the Erie County Metro Hockey League and various youth organizations. The arena also welcomes students, faculty, staff, and the general public for recreational skating during published open skating hours, with equipment rentals available.
