About Atlas Cement Company Museum

The Atlas Cement Company Museum preserves the heritage of the legendary cement plant that operated in Northampton. Visitors explore exhibits featuring rock samples in glass cylinders, historical company records, and photographs documenting the industry's development. The museum displays metal signage from Phoenix Portland Cement and Atlas Portland Cement alongside historic maps. A large brass bell and gearwheels stand among the artifacts, while a prominent mural depicts the cement plant, factories, river boats, the Statue of Liberty, and rows of Atlas employees. Additional exhibits include cement bags bearing various company logos, a papier-mâché horse mannequin, a vintage firehose cart, and a life-size cutout of a cement worker. The laboratory exhibit showcases glass containers used for chemical testing. Educational programs serve elementary through college students, businesses, and civic organizations. The museum is housed in the Northampton Borough Municipal Building and is ADA accessible. General admission is free.
