Feeling loved-up? Kiss your better half under the Heart of Yorkshire window at York Minster and (allegedly) you’ll stay together forever. As long as you’re sure now. And if there’s any Harry Potter fans in tow, another York highlight is The Shambles – the timber-framed buildings and cobbled streets apparently inspired Diagon Alley.
There’s plenty to do outside of York too. A day at the seaside in Scarborough is always fun – try feeding the sharks at SEA LIFE. Treat yourself to a posh afternoon tea at Bettys in Harrogate or chill out with craft beers at The Beer Engine in Skipton. And if countryside is your thing, the North York Moors and Yorkshire Dales are cracking.
Great for families or grown-up weekends and easy to get to from most of the UK, North Yorkshire has plenty to offer.
