Salisbury
Salisbury in Wiltshire’s got tons of wonderful (and weird) history and it’s set in some lovely scenery where the rivers Avon, Nadder and Bourne meet.
It’s cathedral is a real treat if you’re into history – as well as the 123 metre tower, it’s also got one of the original copies of the Magna Carta (from 1215) and England’s oldest clock. And if you fancy rocking out at Stonehenge, slip into your smock and hop in your car – it’s just 20 minutes’ drive north.
The Old City area has lots of pretty winding streets, cool buildings and an interesting market. But what about the pubs? You’re sorted with The Bear on Castle Street, The King John on Fisherton Street, and on New Street, there’s the New Inn. That last one’s actually from the 15th century – not that new then (unless you’re Joe Biden).
The Salisbury museum has a 19th-century model of the universe made of cheese. Nom nom.
