East Sussex – with cracking beaches and arty towns, it’s a great escape from London.

If you’re all about action, try windsurfing or kite-flying on Camber Sands. Hastings has cool galleries and boutiques (with pretty stunning sea views). But for something out of the ordinary, catch an outdoor Shakespeare production at Eastbourne’s Italian Gardens. Watch the actors strut their stuff as the sun goes down and you’re a world away.
