Ah December, the most wonderful time of the year. And the daysout.com team certainly agree with that.

Whether it’s for the food, the booze or the festivities, we all bloody love December. On that note, here’s what the team is most excited for in December.

The Manchester Christmas markets! If you haven't been, it's definitely worth a visit. I love walking around all the little stalls with a mulled wine (they have so many flavours and you can add a shot of amaretto), stopping off for food and more mulled wine on the way. I've got my eye on the raclette stall from Northern Soul - hot, melted cheese over potatoes with pickles. Talk to me.

I'm counting down the days till I can decorate my tree and blast Christmas music, I'm also very partial to a bit of tinsel! I love seeing all the Christmas lights - either proper light trails or even just a walk around the neighbourhood to see everyone's houses all decorated.

I also really enjoy visiting markets and small businesses around December to get all my Christmas presents - the Makers Markets in the Northwest are always great especially in December.

Manchester Christmas Markets with the daysout.com gang for sure. But also, making a Christmas pudding (that I won't eat but I always make one and all the kids have to stir it), should do it soon actually as it's usually steeped for a month. Visiting the Yorkshire Family and putting the decs up and the baileys and mince pie afterwards must be on the list too. And of course, I can’t forget switching the dogs collar out for his Christmas one!

Christmas is such a magical time of year; I especially love visiting my village’s annual light switch on – it feels like something straight out of a Neftlix Christmas movie. Even just going on a walk is so much nicer in the build up to Xmas - all wrapped up with big wooly scarf and hat, of course.

It’s hard for me to choose a favourite because, as a rule, I love all things Christmassy. Wanna go look at some lights (like Lightopia at Alton Towers)? Definitely. Fancy decorating the house? Absolutely. Up for a festive Starbucks? You don’t have to ask me twice.

Neil

I'm looking forward to listening my favourite Christmas songs, particularly Slade, and enjoying being at home without the daily work routine. And I can't forget the endless food and drink.

(But NOT wrapping up presents, I'm useless!)

Catherine

Putting the tree up – on the December 2nd after our son’s birthday on the 1st! Christmas music has to be on full blast and mug of mulled wine in-hand. We go all out on the tree – proper 80’s tinsel.

And of course, there’s got to be a Panto trip between Christmas and New Year – I love that the scripts always have hidden naughtiness for the grown-ups!

Oh, and in the build up to Christmas, we head out on an advent window trail (something loads of towns are doing now), where houses on a street pick a number from Christmas advent to decorate their window with. It’s a great way to get the kids out of the house.
