What to expect at Jeff Wayne's The War of The Worlds: The Immersive Experience

Think you know The War of the Worlds? Not like this you don't.

If you’re after something unique to do in London, this one’s for you. The War of the Worlds: Immersive Experience is a melting pot of IRL action (12 live actors make sure of that), 360° virtual reality, and multi-sensory effects. Oh, and it’s set to a soundtrack of Jeff Wayne’s iconic album, of course.

Your adventure will take you on a journey through London – sneaking into deserted houses, witnessing the first cylinder land from Mars and seeing Martian forces attack the city’s landmarks – before fleeing the city by boat and setting off for Mars in a hot air balloon. And that’s just a sneak peak, there are 24 interactive scenes in total – the whole thing takes 1 hour and 50 minutes, which includes a 20-minute interval.

It’s the only spot in London where you can experience a real Martian invasion and, trust us, you won’t believe quite how real it feels. The 5D sensory effects - like Volumetric Holograms, projection mapping, binaural and ambisonic sound, for the techy folk – bring it straight to life. Plus, the 17-character cast make you part of the story.

Kick it all off in The Spirit of Man, the world’s only steampunk bar and restaurant where you can fuel up ready for your adventure under the tentacles of a giant Martian, with a themed cocktail in hand.

What is considered scary can be subjective! (Looking at you scaredy-cats). But Jeff Wayne's The War of the Worlds: The Immersive Experience is only recomended for those age 10+ as there are some elements that could be considered frightening - think very dark lighting and loud noises (and an alien invasion of course).
