SEA LIFE Manchester tips and tricks

Danielle says

"Double up for a full day out"

Team LDC Manchester with SEALIFE if you can, it’s worth doing both in a day if you have 2-3 hours spare as you get around them pretty quickly. They are both next to each other and it’s a great double day out.

What to expect at SEA LIFE Manchester

A fix of marine life with a side of Madchester music

With sharks, clownfish, turtles and rays, there are as many unusual characters at SEA LIFE Manchester as at a night out at the Hacienda circa 1989. And it’s a lot less sweaty too.

SEA LIFE Manchester is an underwater home to over 2,000 creatures, including zebra shark to jellyfish – and a pair of giant green sea turtles, Ernie and Cammy, that rival the Gallagher brothers when it comes to star quality.

It’s split into 11 different habitat-themed zones like Turtle Beach, Rocky Hideout, Shark Shipwreck and the impressive Ocean Tunnel (the view is top notch). Find out how it feels to touch a starfish at the interactive touch pool experience, then visit the lair of the Japanese spider crabs – they grow up to 3 meters from claw to claw. That’s more than a meter longer than Anthony Joshua.

Keep an eye out for special events here too. At different times during the year, kids can watch real (ish) mermaids swim with sea turtles, take part in treasure hunts and get guided tours from Peppa Pig. Hope she stays clear of the shark tank.

And if you want to do your bit for the local environment, join staff and community members on one of their regular canal cleans. Help out for a couple of hours and you get free entry to the aquarium – not bad at all.
